| Outside of the North Kivu
town of Goma, these Rwandan refugee camps were formed in 1994 as 1.5 to 2 million refugees
fled their country due to serious ethnic tensions which resulted in widespread killing.
More than 80 different international relief agencies had set up programs to
provide shelter, food and health services to the refugees. The photos above
are those of the Kibumba camp with an estimated 250,000 people. |
